WESTPORT SOCIETY

Tomorrow night at 6pm Westport Historical Society launches the 2010 edition of its annual journal, Cathair na Mart, at the Helm Bar on the quays. The ceremony will be performed by the poet and biographer Dr Seán Lysaght. More details from Clew Bay Heritage Centre on 098-26852.

CINEMA IN THE OPEN

Every Wednesday until August 18th Dundrum Town Centre, in south Dublin, hosts free outdoor cinema screenings on Pembroke Square, beside Harvey Nichols menswear. Tomorrow’s first film, at 5pm, is The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie, for younger viewers, followed at 7pm by Mamma Mia! Many of the shopping centre’s restaurants will have movie menus that let you take your food into the square, to eat while you watch the film. dundrum.ie.

BURREN WALKS

CORK COMEDY

MacGILL SUMMER SCHOOL

The 30th MacGill Summer School, in Co Donegal until Saturday, is looking at how Ireland came to the point of economic meltdown and asking what the solutions might be. Tomorrow night’s discussion will focus on Nama and the banks; speakers include Leo Varadkar of Fine Gael, Willie Slattery of State Street and Mark Fielding of Isme.
