CATHERINE SEERY and Terry Ward were married on September 12th, on the sixth anniversary of their meeting, in the stone church of the Franciscan Abbey in Multyfarnham, Co Westmeath, by Fr Richard Mathews. Their reception was held in the Hilamar Hotel in nearby Kinnegad.
Catherine grew up in the countryside of Clonlost, Killucan, Co Westmeath, and is the daughter of Teresa and Sean Seery, and the youngest of three girls. She attended Loreto Convent in Mullingar before completing her BSc in physiotherapy in the University of Ulster, Jordanstown. She currently works as a physiotherapist for Antrim Area Hospital.
Terry, who currently works as a team leader with a large retail company, grew up in Dunmurray in Belfast. He is the son of Geraldine and Terry Ward, the eldest of three children, and attended St Colm’s Secondary School in Dunmurray.
The couple met on a night out in Belfast; their eyes met across the crowded bar and, four years later, in June 2007, Terry proposed to Catherine with a solitaire diamond ring after cooking a meal for her.
Marie Seery, Catherine’s twin sister who travelled home from Australia to attend the wedding, and her other sister Lorraine, acted as bridesmaids. Terry’s niece Eimear Ward and Catherine’s cousin Emily Daly-Murtagh were flowergirls. Kevin Ward, Terry’s cousin, who is a teacher, was his best man, and his nephew Conor Calvert-Ward was his second groomsman.
The wedding took place on a beautiful sunny day, in an intimate ceremony attended by close family and friends. Readings and prayers were performed by a selection of guests. Music, in the form of traditional hymns, was provided by Yvonne Muldoon and Carmel O’Grady. The speeches were followed by a surprise slideshow of the couple through the years.
Music at the reception was provided by The Panoramics, who had guests up dancing the whole night long.
The couple spent their 15-night honeymoon in San Francisco, Hawaii and Los Angeles before returning home to Newtownabbey, Co Antrim.
