Our wedding story: ‘We loved seeing each other at the top of the aisle’

Anita Harvey and Barry Noone met 12 years ago at Scariff Community School in Co Clare

Anita and Barry have been together since they met 12 years ago at Scariff Community School in Co Clare, and have a 2-year old son, Harry.

During a weekend in Kilkenny in February 2013, Barry proposed and the couple chose 29th December 2014 as their wedding date.

“I thought it was because Barry loved Christmas,” Anita says, “but he let slip one day that there’s no hurling at that time of the year and he didn’t want to miss any matches.”

They were married in the bride's local church, St Caimin's in Mountshannon, and afterwards had a reception for 162 friends and family in the Castleoaks House Hotel, Co Limerick.

The wedding party was a true family affair. Barry’s older brothers Mikey, Patrick, David and Ollie were groomsmen. The bridesmaids were

Michelle Hogan

(the bride’s childhood friend);

Zara Noone

(married to the groom’s brother Patrick);

Stephanie Ryan

(girlfriend of the bride’s brother, Simon); and Sallyann Durack (engaged to the bride’s brother, Matthew).

The bridal party spent the morning of the wedding getting ready at the home of Anita's parents, John and Noreen Harvey. Anita said, "I loved walking up the aisle with my dad. And we loved seeing each other at the top of the aisle. Seeing Harry in his little suit was another favourite."

The family’s first dance – bride, groom and Harry – was to Ed Sheeran’s Thinking Out Loud.

The newlyweds spent five nights in Edinburgh and then took Harry to Kilkenny for a “funnymoon”.

Barry, Anita and Harry live in Mountshannon, Co Clare.
