When AnneMarie O’Neill, a language teacher from Dublin, moved to Switzerland in January 2010 she “wasn’t planning on staying here forever, but was going to give it at least a year”.

That changed when she met Swiss lawyer Adrian Trutmann at Paddy Reilly’s pub in Zurich. He proposed atop Zürichberg Mountain on December 22nd, 2013.

On August 22nd, 2014, the couple had a civil wedding at the Trutmann family vineyards – which the groom’s father ran until he died in 2010 – in Stein am Rhein.

On November 8th, 2014, they did it again at the Village of Lyons hotel in Co Kildare, this time in front of their parents Michael and Veronica O’Neill and Anna Trutmann, and guests from Ireland, Switzerland, Germany, France, Spain, and the US.

All the wine and grappa on the day came from the Trutmann vineyards.

The bride wore a Raimon Bundó dress she found in Zurich and the men’s suits were by Swiss tailors.

The maid of honour, Jennifer Geraghty – AnneMarie’s sister – did all the singing for the ceremony. “It was pretty special to hear my sister’s voice singing Bob Dylan’s To Make You Feel my Love before I walked into the room with Dad,” AnneMarie recalls.

Caroline Wade and Helen Shaw – whom the bride has known since she was five – were bridesmaids and organised a “brilliant” hen party for 20 in Krakow.

AnneMarie – who is “addicted to mountain and ultra-marathon running” – originally wanted to run a marathon in whatever city was chosen but “my sister put her foot down and we had a marathon theme instead.”

Adrian’s groomsmen were his brother Alex Trutmann and friends from Fribourg University, Thomas Egloff and Mirco Anderegg.

The couple honeymooned in Cambodia and Laos; AnneMarie is giving this ski season a miss as she and Adrian are expecting their first baby in July.
