Routes to avoid around the country

PLEASE NOTE: Many Urban and County Councils reduce or suspend roadworks over the Christmas period, particularly in Dublin in accordance with Operation Freeflow.

DUBLIN:

From 7pm Friday January 6th to 7pm Monday, January 9th, part of St Margarets Rd will be closed near Jamestown Rd jct. The nearest alternative route will be via the District Distributer Rd. Diversion signs and traffic management will be in place.

On Sunday January 8th, from 6am to 4pm, Blackthorn Rd will be closed, from junction with Blackthorn Drive & Bracken Rd. This is for works associated with the Becon Court development. The alternative route will be via Burton Hall Rd, Blackthorn Ave & Blackthorn Drive (for westbound traffic) & Blackthorn Drive & Blackthorn Ave (for eastbound traffic). Local access will be maintained at all times. Traffic management plan in operation, diversions signposted.

KILDARE:

The M4/M6 Kilcock to Kinnegad Toll Motorway has officially opened to traffic. There will be a toll charge of €2.40 near Kilcock.

GALWAY:

The Park and Ride scheme is operating at the Ballybrit Race Course, running every 15 minutes from 7.30am until 9pm each day.

SLIGO:

Until further notice, roadworks on N17 South of Tubbercurry at Rue. Traffic management will be in operation - exercise caution.

CORK:

Until early 2006, due to ongoing works between Macroom and Ballymakeera it is necessary to close the road outside peak time, between 9.30am and 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Alternative routes will be signposted by Clondrohid, local access will be maintained. Delays expected.

Until Christmas roadworks are on N71 from Inishannon. Stop-go system from 9am until 6pm. Works run from Tuesday to Saturday on an ongoing basis.

A Park & Ride is available at the Black Ash Car Park and runs every 15 minutes to the City Centre.

KERRY:

Free Car Parking is available at the Lewis Rd car park, High St Car Park and Jimmie the Masons Car Park in Kilarney until the end of December.

WATERFORD:

Green Rd is permanently closed from its junction at The Six Cross Roads to its junction at Ballycasin Hill, Ballybeg Drive. An alternative route is now in operation.

WEXFORD:

Until further notice from 7am to 7pm traffic restrictions are in place on the N11 south of Ferns. Allow extra time for all journeys on the Enniscorthy side of Ferns Village.

TRAVEL INFORMATION:

Luas is providing a late night service during the Christmas period at the weekends.

- Red Line services depart Connolly every half hour from 1am to 3am and leave Tallaght every half hour from 1am to 2am incl.

- Green Line services will depart St Stephens Green every half hour between 1am and 3am. And leave Sandyford between 1am and 2.30am
