I'm currently nursing full time, company secretary and director of Irish Rider Training Association. I'm nearly 40

What was your first machine?

When I met my husband, he had a Suzuki GSX400T. He taught me to ride on this machine - so I guess this was the first bike that was almost my own. After that we bought a Kawasaki 550 LTD.

What attracted you to it? The Kawasaki 550 LTD was a nice looking bike, sturdy with a fair bit of power.

How much did it cost?

I seem to remember we paid about £4,000 sterling for it - we were living in the UK at the time.

What's your current machine?

A Yamaha Fazer 600.

What did it cost? £6,100 in 2000.

And insurance?

£420 fully comp, for my husband and myself.

What do you use the machine for?

Mostly for commuting from Wexford to Dublin for work each day. I try to ride at the weekends for pleasure, when I get the time. I'm also, at present, the only qualified female instructor registered with Irish Rider Training Association.

How much did you spend on gear?

Helmet £160, jacket £150, trousers £110, boots £115, gloves£50, spinal board £100, heated gloves (for winter) £140. neck warmer £10.

What is your next upgrade likely to be?

I'd really like to get a Fazer 1000, but unfortunately I can't afford it right now. However, I'd also be concerned that I wouldn't love it as much as I love my Fazer 600. So I may settle for another Fazer 600.
