MV Agusta chief designer retires
• MV Agusta has announced that design chief Massimo Tamburini will retire at the end of this year. Tamburini has headed MV Agusta's engineering and design centre, Centro Ricerche Cagiva, in San Marino, for more than 13 years.
Tamburini plans to pursue design interests outside the motorcycle field. According to Claudio Castiglioni, MV Agusta chairman and director of motorcycle research and development: "Massimo Tamburini is one of the legends of the motorcycle industry and leaves a great legacy at MV Agusta."
Honda's new Hornet unveiled
The all-new revised Honda Hornet 600 was unveiled at the Milan motorcycle show recently, and at the NEC Bike Show in Birmingham.
The new middleweight machine has new lights, clocks, a re-shaped gas tank, and front and rear adjustable suspension.
Police Hondas withdrawn in UK
Police in Manchester have decided to take their Honda Pan European ST 1300s off the force after a police motorcyclist was killed during a training exercise.
PC Allan Shaw (33), was killed on his ST1300 when he went over a speed bump and was thrown off; the coroner ruled the death as accidental. Greater Manchester Police said all Honda Pan European ST 1300s had now been withdrawn, after advice from the Association of Chief Police Officers (ACPO).
