FORD HAS reached a tentative agreement with US motor industry union the United Auto Workers (UAW) on contract changes the firm wants to introduce to bring labour costs in line with rivals, the union and company said yesterday.
The tentative pact will be presented to its National Ford Council delegates and then put it to a member vote, should the group agree.
The union and Ford declined to release details of the changes pending the vote. Ford said the changes would “help Ford improve its current and long-term competitiveness in the US”.
Ford has aimed at bringing its contract in line with those of GM and Chrysler Group, which received consessions earlier this year.
