Leopardstown Racecourse recently held a successful family day, featuring a racing talk and tour before the first race, bouncy castles, a magician and a puppet show, courtesy of the Lambert Puppet theatre. Even the weather co-operated and the sun shone down on several generations of race-goers. Don’t despair if you missed it, as there are plans to hold two further family days: Sunday, April 19th, and Sunday, May 10th.
Tickets cost €15 for adults, and children under 14 are free. See www.leopardstown.ie. Also, Walking Sunday – the traditional ritual where families are invited to walk the course at Punchestown on the Sunday before the Punchestown Festival – takes place this year on Sunday, April 26th (2-5pm). Fun activities include a fancy dress competition, the presentation of walking certificates, a carnival, a puppet show and a historical walking tour. Admission is free. See www.punchestown.com.
