Denis O'Brien has got permission for a six-storey office block on the Donnybrook site where he was refused permission for a 26-storey residential tower two years ago.

O'Brien's Partenay Ltd has been given approval by Dublin City Council to build a 4,959sq m (53,378sq ft) block on the site of the former Bizquip retail outlet at 25-27 Donnybrook Road and 1-3 The Crescent. The scheme will incorporate five offices, two retail units and 36 car-parking spaces. It's a far cry from the 87-metre (285ft) tower O'Brien originally planned for the site, which would have incorporated 36 apartments, office and retail space, a gym and a roof garden.

An Bord Pleanála refused permission to build this scheme ruling that the tower was excessive in height and scale.
