Denise O’Connor refurb part 2: Rest

Denise O’Connor talks about the importance of a home designed for wellbeing and happiness.

Understand the external triggers that effect your wellbeing and happiness. This can help us design our homes to eliminate these kinds of stressors, such as piles of shoes and coats in the hall, or a cluttered kitchen counter or bedroom. We turned an awkward over-garage space into a walk-in wardrobe leading to a generous master en suite at the back of the house.

We wanted the new master bedroom to be a calm and restful space. We sound-proofed between the floor and the ceiling to eliminate noise transfer. To control light, we chose a combination of blackout blinds, and blackout-lined the curtains.

The new bedroom is a calm and clutter-free zone perfect for sleeping, and the room I’m most excited about is ‘my’ new bathroom , completely clear of toys and other bits and pieces.
