FORTY-SIX acres of rough mountainside at Shielmartin Mountain Howth, Co Dublin, have been sold by tender through Ganly Walters for £150,000. The land, which overlooks Dublin Bay, has been owned for the past 80 years by the Pile estate, which secured £204,000 earlier this year for an adjoining six acres on Carrickbrack Road. The 46 acres are zoned as high amenity land. There is a public right of way through it to the summit of the mountain, where there is an ancient cairn. Most of the remaining land on Shielmartin is owned and used by Howth Golf Club.
