As part of the Dunmore East Festival of Food, Fish and Fun (June 26th-28th), fishermen and visiting chefs are joining forces at the harbour for a “Catch and Cook” event to show people how to prepare and cook freshly caught fish.
There will also be a sea angling competition, and local restaurants will be offering dishes based on locally caught produce. Kevin Dundon of Dunbrody House will open the festival and there will be food demonstrations throughout the weekend with chefs Eunice Power, Michael Quinn and Sandro Cavaliere. Darina Allen of Ballymaloe Cookery School will host a farmers’ market down at the harbour, while throughout the village there will be live music, arts and crafts exhibitions, street artists, orienteering, bun and cake workshops and guided tours.
