What’s new with Ireland’s glove queen Paula Rowan?

Stylefile: No need to go dutch on Rowan’s creations; and the ‘In Search of Magic’ collection

Ireland’s glove queen Paula Rowan, whose many international fans include Julianne Moore, Chloe Sevigny, Madonna and Martin Scorsese, is spreading her wings – this time in Rotterdam in a new luxury concept store called Lianne Tio that has just opened in the Dutch port city.

The gloves are already on sale in Corso Como in Milan which has a similar ethos and stocks a broad spectrum of specially selected upmarket products. Lianne Tio has taken Rowan’s entire AW18 collection for its new store which showcases jewellery, bags and perfumes, its remit “to seek out the best of the new and the next”.

It is located in central Rotterdam and will feature the largest designer portfolio in the Netherlands and Rowan’s collection will be the only glove brand along with her silk and cashmere scarves that she created with artist Mark P Cullen. Selected styles include her signature opera gloves and cashmere lined Marianne gloves in supersoft leather – all made in an Italian family-owned workroom in Naples.

Print power

“Everyone in the world wants to love, laugh, relax and have fun but sometimes in the daily race to get things done we forget to breathe properly” says artist-designer Joanna Kaminska who lives in west Cork (where I am sure she has plenty of breathing space) making arresting silk scarves with playful animal and floral motifs from her own original artwork.
