Two wines on promotion from SuperValu this week. Both are imported directly by the supermarket and form part of their premium range. If you haven’t tried German riesling yet, then the Albert Glas is well worth a go. Fresh, fruity and dry, it is a world away from those sweetish liebfraumilch of yesteryear.
Priorat is a small region in Catalunya. A good hour’s drive from Barcelona, the vineyards are quite spectacular, clinging to steep terraces high up in the mountains; well worth a detour if you are visiting the region. The wine below is a blend of cariñena, garnacha and syrah.

Albert Glas Black Label Riesling 2023, Pfalz, Germany
13%, €15, down from €20
Fresh and lively with succulent peach and apple fruits finishing on a rounded note. This would make a lovely sipping wine, or match it with crab, scallops and other fish dishes.
