As part of the Ballina Salmon Festival, which runs until Sunday, a huge talent competition takes place tonight. Whether you’re into Riverdance or hip-hop, Margo or Britney, the Ramada Hotel in Ballina has it covered. Tickets are €10 on

RATHLIN ISLAND TOUR

Explore Northern Ireland’s only inhabited offshore island tomorrow, visiting a sea-bird centre, churches, visitors’ centre and castles. Expert guides are on hand throughout, and the tour leaves Flowerfield Arts Centre, Portstewart, Co Derry at 8.30am returning at 5.30pm. The cost is £16-26. 048-70324449.

CHILDHOOD IN LOUTH

The County Museum in Dundalk hosts a travelling exhibition highlighting the changes experienced by successive generations of children growing up in the country. Visitors are also invited to contribute their own knowledge to a document containing sayings, proverbs, games and slang words, associated with the county.
