Great excitement has greeted the much-anticipated release of B & B’s new CD, and for good reason. This four-piece treat every note with serious intent in their marriage of tunes from Sligo, Donegal and Sliabh Luachra, with a healthy mix of original compositions. With musicianship to burn, Seamus and Manus McGuire, Jackie Daly (right) and Garry Ó Briain’s performance is the opening concert in this year’s fleadh, and it’s a programme bursting with sessions, workshops, concerts and no-holds-barred debates on the present and future of traditional music.

“I wanted to show that rooms have stories to tell,” said curator Emmett Scanlon. “that people’s lives become bound up in the making and using of rooms and buildings.” He proceeded to give voice to eight homes and one outdoor classroom designed by emerging Irish architectural practices. They are AP+E, A2, Clancy Moore, GKMP, Hall McKnight, Ryan Kennihan, Steve Larkin, TAKA and Urban Agency. This is an Irish outing for a show seen in London in June as part of New Horizon architecture from Ireland project.
