HOUSE
Kerri Chandler
Twisted Pepper, Dublin 11pm €20/€18/€10 (also T13, Belfast Sat & Savoy, Cork Sun) kerrichandler.com
A pre-Christmas present for all soulful house heads with Kerri Chandler making a weekend of it around the country. Since those early days as a 13-year-old kid tagging along with his jazzer dad to gigs, the New Jersey native has been a prolific producer, with releases to his name down the years for such labels as King Street and Ibadan. In recent times, raw underground cuts for Max Trax and Grei Matter showed he's still a go-to guy for deep, soulful house music rooted in classic black sounds and positive spiritual vibes.
THEATRE
War of Attrition
Project Arts Centre. 8.15pm €16/€12 projectartscentre.ie
Devious Theatre returns with its Fringe hit from last year, a comic and darkly subversive take on chuggers, bilious internet bloggers and psychopathy. An unlikely camaraderie develops between a charity worker, an online scourge and a homeless guy, and it disintegrates just as quickly, with hilarious performances from John Doran, Roseanna Purcell and its writer John Morton (below). All are given supple direction by Niamh Moroney.
MARKET MUSIC
I Have A Tribe, Hilary Woods, Biggles Flys Again
Mart, Rathmines Also Tuesday, mart.ie, Adm free
Get your Christmas shopping polished off (or, in our case, started) and scratch your live music itches in one fell stroke tonight and on Tuesday at the old firestation Mart in Rathmines. The main room will host a Christmas market selling crafty goods and arty pieces (we think this is code for "Christmas puppies" but can't be sure), while its back room will host a trio of performances from Patrick O'Leary's I Have A Tribe, Hilary Woods, fresh from her Tiger Dublin Fringe show, and Biggles Flys Again, made up of co-pilots Conor Deasy and Jethro Pickett.
