When a story about human evolution is told without words, figuring things out may come later than expected. The wait, as it turns out, is worth it in this 50 minute piece of stunning physical theatre combining visceral vignettes, live music and video installation work.

The four female performers undertake an epic progression from what emerges as a cluster of forest floor-like creatures, twitching and convulsing and occasionally capering towards the light, to fully fledged disco dancing Homo sapiens who reduce themselves to a fracas on the dance floor. Call it an expression of progression or, in fact, regression, the whole thing is strung together with a seamless and hypnotic fluidity.

While the trio of live musicians underscore the action from a dark corner of the space, their presence is tantamount to the performers and, at times, the latter seem like mere puppets at the mercy of the pulse.
