It’s the second week of the Dublin Theatre Festival. (We should have seen it coming.) Some productions have already ended, and those who missed out should take this as a festival lesson: shows are on and then they’re gone.

By now, tickets for Anu Productions’ thrilling and rattling The Boys of Foley Street (left) have reached a higher street value than hot iPhones, while those unable to get into Brokentalkers’ searing and adventurous Have I No Mouth may decide that no counselling can soothe their woes.

Elsewhere, Emma Donoghue’s dramatic biography The Talk of the Town had its run extended before opening night, fuelled by anticipation for Annabelle Comyn’s production and wide fascination with Maeve Brennan’s glamorous and troubled life.

The smart money this week is on the first Irish appearance of The Wooster Group with Hamlet; the last handful of performances of The Company’s Politik; Dylan Tighe’s Record and Theatre Lovett’s The House That Jack Filled. Anticipation is high for Miet Warlop’s Mystery Magnet and Gary Duggan’s Shibari at the Peacock.

A week from now there’ll be no going back. Don’t say we didn’t warn you.
