Marcus Lambkin knows his way around the houses at this stage of the game.
After moving to New York from Dublin in the early 1990s, he spent his days working as a cabinet- maker and nights learning the ropes as a DJ at several residences in the city. This apprenticeship included nights such as Save the Robots and a plethora of gigs under the Plant moniker (Plant Records, the Plant bar in the East Village, etc) alongside Dominique Keegan, now of The Glass.
Lambkin was already making tracks when he met James Murphy (of DFA Records and LCD Soundsystem) in the Plant bar. It was this hook-up which saw Shit Robot first appear in the racks of a record store, with 2006's Wrong GalaxyEP showing Lambkin's fondness for minimal acid grooves.
Lambkin is now based in Stuttgart, and his latest Robot workout is Simple Things (Work It Out),a single featuring vocals from Washington, DC hardcore veteran Ian Svenonius (Nation of Ulysses, The Make Up).
It’s a must-have for fans of fully charged, edgy, passionate dancefloor bleeps. Lambkin’s album, when it arrives, will also be must-hear fare.
