Whelan's launches record label

One of Dublin’s most well known music venues has launched its own record label. Whelan’s Records – in association with MPI, a booking agency/band management company – will launch its first release, an EP by Dublin indie-rock band Raglans, at the end of this month.

Long Live will be unleashed on the general public with a gig at (you guessed it) Whelan’s on May 25th. The Wexford Street gigging emporium has been a focal point of Dublin’s music scene since it first became a venue in 1989, but this is its first foray into releasing music.

Their partnership with Dublin-based agency MPI means they have “ring-fenced a small development fund” to finance a number of homegrown releases. whelansrecords@mpibands.com
