No One Is Lost

Stars have taken many musical twists and turns over 15 years and seven studio albums. For No One Is Lost, the Canadians take their heady, romantic pop towards the dancefloor and leave some of the wistfulness of old in the cloakroom. Throughout, all of the musicians are bursting to touch the sky, with twin vocalists Torquil Campbell and Amy Millan delivering the necessary ballast to keep things grounded. Recorded in a Montreal studio above a former gay club, No One Is Lost contains all the pulse, energy and swing that define the best dance music, stitched into the art-and-crafts’ indie style that runs through Stars’ DNA. It also makes full use of the nuanced songwriting that has informed all of their moves to date. The tracks are both spry and evocative, including the epic opening groover, From the Night, and the full-bodied title track.
