AILBHE MALONEon an ex, a crush and a lovelorn Lady

TRACK OF THE WEEK

We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together by Taylor Swift.

STOP WHATEVER IT IS YOU’RE DOING THIS FRIDAY MORNING. Turn YouTube on. There is a new Taylor Swift track. This is not a drill. It was co-written with Max Martin (Katy Perry, Britney Spears) and is a fun up-tempo number that’s more early-noughties pop than current, but that’s totally okay. There is a speaky bit! There is a bit where Taylor sings about how her ex will “find your peace of mind, with some indie record that’s much cooler than mine”. Excellent.

Demi Lovato continues to skirt around any romantic involvement with Niall One Direction. She told Seventeen magazine: “I think Niall is super, super sweet and we’ve become good friends. I get what it’s like to be in the spotlight since I’ve grown up in it.” But Lovato rebutted any “boyfriend” tags, firmly saying: “He’s really sweet and it’s always flattering when a guy says he has a crush on you. But I’m in a place right now where I’m not dating. I’ve sworn off dating for a long time. You never know what the future holds of course, but for now I am an independent woman and proud of it.”

It’s been a busy week in the world of Lady Gaga. Not only did she announce the title of her new album – ARTPOP – and return to V magazine as a columnist (her latest piece is on why a manicure “boosts your self-esteem every day”), she’s also returned to making films. In the newest release, Monstervision No 5, she explains that “I’ve been making these movies I think mostly because I’m trying to challenge myself. One, to document the things I see on a daily basis because I don’t want to forget them and, two, because I think you want to see them.” Gaga also lets slip about her love life, adding: “I’m also just so miserably in love that there’s really nothing else to do. I’ll just yearn for him and make films about shoes and flowers.”
