Ryan Hunn coats his tracks with flickering hues and hisses – and those aren't the only seductive sounds to the Manchester producer's debut album. Between remixing Radiohead, running the Hoya:Hoya club and releasing tracks for Young Turks, 3024 and Tectonic, Hunn learned the orienteering skills required to create emotive, evocative washes and wobbles of sound. Here the peppery synths and restless loops mark out a soundscape that is rich in ideas, possibilities and haunting melodies. Hunn is at his best and brightest when grooves threaten to implode before pulling all the threads together with a just-like-that flourish. You could spend a good part of your day distilling, deconstructing and delineating his list of ingredients and influences, but that's time better spent following the ebb and flow on tracks such as The Road, Sleeprunner and Liquesce. facebook.com/illumsphere
