Nothing 4AD***
The electronic producer's second 2011 release could be seen as a companion piece to the moody and beautiful soundscapes he showcased on the Dedicationalbum a mere six months ago. But the seven- track Nothingis state-of-the- art electronica of a different stripe, and is more akin in places to the 1990s headrush Zomby explored on the earlier bleep-friendly Where Were U in '92?album than the evocative waves tapped for Dedication. It means that those who come to this on the back of the rave reviews for the latter album alone may be somewhat confused by the random nature of this release. For Zomby connoisseurs, however, it's an interesting if not quite essential document of where his head was at after Dedicationtook him to a whole new level, with tracks such as Labyrinthand Sensworthy of repeat listens.
