These recent visitors are substantial artists in their own right, but together, on this extended EP, they create something very special as a calling card for future ventures. Country folk suits the duo's model and in this instance West's proud, elegant, yet sensuous voice blends perfectly with Phelps's more muted but haunted tone; their voices just fit together so easily. Add Phelps's delicate picking into the mix and give yourself a few listens to hear the real joy of two musicians sharing such an understated space: two voices, two guitars, eight songs, including six by West.
