Never Dead

Never Deadis a third-person shooter in which you play a centuries-old demon hunter. But here's the twist; you're incapable of dying. Your limbs can be separated and used independently: a severed arm can fire a gun, your lopped-off head can sneak into hard- to-reach places, you can survive explosions. The challenges lie in protecting your partner, the mortal Arcadia, and in avoiding sticky endings – like, erm, having your head devoured by a monster and living in a state of permanent digestion. It's macabre and inventively disgusting. Konami should be praised for going out on a limb, though the game's not quite what it could be; some controls are cumbersome. Still, it's a terrific idea. While Never Deaddoesn't quite put its best foot forward, the inevitable sequel should give it a leg up.
