WELL worth the detour is The French Warehouse, a company specialising in antique French beds and bedroom furniture in Ballynahinch, Co Down.
Until recently this warehouse was only open to the public two days a week. Owners Christopher and Heather Cowdy spent the remaining time sourcing and transporting furniture from France, where they have a warehouse in the Loire Valley.
Business has been booming, however, and they are now open seven days a week. The warehouse stocks a good range of beds, from simple brass and iron ones to ornately carved beds in rosewood, walnut and cherrywood. You can find them at 72 Dunmore Road, Spa, Ballinahinch, Co Down. Tel, 080 1396811275.
