Secretaire bookcase from 1780 for £5,000-plus

Town & Country Auctioneers expect a George III secretaire bookcase dating from circa 1780 to fetch £5,000-£6,000 at a house-contents sale in Foxrock, Dublin, tomorrow. A pair of George III inlaid mahogany fold-over card tables from circa 1810 are estimated to make £4,000-£6,000, a set of eight early Victorian dining chairs are expected to fetch £1,800-£2,000 and a Victorian mahogany dining table has an estimate of £1,500-£2,500.

Other items include a Victorian mahogany bookcase (£800-£1,200), a Victorian rosewood fold-over card table and a Chippendale-style miniature display cabinet (both £800-£900). The sale begins at 2 p.m.

The first auction conducted this year by Waterford auctioneer, R.J. Keighery takes place on Monday when some 600 lots include an early 19th-century German walnut commode, which carries a pre-sale estimate of £4,000-£6,000.

A Victorian mahogany four-leaf dining table is expected to make £3,000-£4,000 and a George III mahogany secretaire bookcase has an estimate of £1,500-£2,000. A six-piece walnut drawingroom suite is expected to go under the hammer for £2,000-£3,000, a large gilt overmantel mirror has an estimate of £1,200-£1,500 and a Victorian mahogany pedestal sideboard has a price of £800-£1,000.
