Holy internet slagging match!

Have you heard enough about The Dark Knight Rises? Well, tough

Have you heard enough about The Dark Knight Rises? Well, tough. Elsewhere in today’s Ticket we mention the furore at Rotten Tomatoes, the online review aggregator, concerning intemperate, often misogynistic attacks on reviewers who disliked Christopher Nolan’s film, which opens today. The site was eventually forced to suspend comments from reviews.

In all the hubbub, another story has slipped under the radar. Eager to berate the online mob, online critic Eric D Snider posted, despite not yet having seen the film, a review kicking nine classes of tar out of The Dark Knight Rises. He also managed to misrepresent Film.comby attributing the notice to that organisation. The prankster was, quite properly, banned.

In a piece amusingly titled "This is why we can't have nice things", Matt Atchity, RT's editor in chief, commented: "In our opinion, by knowingly posting a link that isn't a review (and he hadn't seen the movie), Snider has abused our trust, and therefore, his reviews will no longer apply to the Tomatometer."

Referring to the ban on comments, Atchity added, "We'll ban you for threats and hate speech – we're trying to have fun here, so dont be a dick."
