Wall St is key factor in advance

The German share advance regained its momentum yesterday to end trading on the Frankfurt exchange at a record closing level before falling back in late electronic deals.

Activity was still focused on individual shares, but many dealers said the overall sentiment was bullish. Analysts said the gains were sparked by gains on Wall Street.

Paris CAC-40: 2719.58 (+26.49)

French shares closed with a big gain yesterday, but remained be low an all-time high. Shares were boosted by strength on Wall Street on Monday night, and by new opinion polls showing a lead for the ruling right-wing majority that could translate into a victory in France's forthcoming legislative election.

Milan Mibtel: 12327 (+13)

Italian shares closed slightly higher yesterday in subdued trading. Analysts said scattered profit-taking and a lack of fresh ideas took a toll, while a weaker opening on Wall Street also sapped market confidence.
