Web Summit Day Two: hear from Tinder, Facebook and Stripe

If you do anything today, go to Nigel Eccles's talk on the sport stage at 3.20pm. Eccles, from Co Tyrone, is the founder of fantasy sports start-up Fanduel. His company is valued at a staggering $1.3 billion, after receiving investment of $275 million earlier this year. Eccles, who grew up on a dairy farm in Cookstown, set up the business six years ago.

On the subject of money, Pebble founder Eric Migicovsky will discuss the future of wearables on the machine stage at 1.30pm. His smartwatch company shattered records on crowdfunding platform Kickstarter earlier this year when it raised $20 million in one month. He will discuss how Pebble is competing in the greater smartwatch/wearables space and what his vision is in the near and long term.

In a world where the majority of people still can not purchase from a majority of merchants online, the interconnected world is yet to be realised. Stripe cofounder and recent winner of Ireland's EY Entrepreneur of the Year award John Collison takes to the centre stage at 9.35am to discuss commerce: the next epoch of the internet.

With a diverse platform incorporating text, image and video, Facebook is at the forefront of the communications revolution, but it needs to stay ahead. On the marketing stage at 10.20am, Facebook's EMEA vice-president Nicola Mendelsohn will discuss how the social network intends on staying ahead of the ever-shifting consumer landscape.

At the same time, on the startup university stage, Ponder founder William LeGate is participating in a panel called "Young, brilliant and under 23: meet the leaders of today". LeGate's apps have more than six million users, and he was awarded the Thiel Fellowship to drop out of school for $100,000 and follow his passions. In 2013, Business Insider described the then 19-year-old as one of the most powerful people in tech.

Reflecting on a 15-year career and three start-ups, Misfit founder Sonny Vu will talk about both the brighter and darker times of entrepreneurship on the startup university stage at 11.55am.
