If you tweet, you’re a poet too

A Brazilian Contemporary Cultural Centre has come up with a novel way of engaging social media users with literature.

Barco’s thinking seems to be that if the people don’t read poetry then bring poetry to the people. Via Twitter.

Hence, Poetweet, a fun web app that takes in your username and spits out a choice of three forms of poem (sonnet, rondel, indriso) by randomly selecting chunks of past tweets.

We tried it out on The Irish Times's Conor Pope's Twitter account and honestly can't tell if this auto-generated poetry is ridiculous or incredibly deep: "Screen. Black bar/white text . . . ideas . . . which should I choose? On the powerful.
