EUNetworks unveils new network link

Singapore-listed EUNetworks has deployed a new 8.8 terabyte fibre-based network between London and Dublin.

The Irish-managed firm, which operates fibre-optic networks around Europe, said the new network enabled it to deliver its services from the capital city to the UK, through Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol and London, and further afield into Europe.

The network uses the next generation of Dense Wave Division Multiplexing platform, which enables 10G, 40G and 100G capability.

The company said that despite the economic pressures, the demand for bandwidth continued to grow, with multinationals investing in their data centre and network infrastructure around Europe.

"Over the last year or so, we have had increasing demand from our customers to provide them with our full suite of services both in Dublin and across Europe," said David Selby, EUNetworks' vice president of product and strategy.

"This network development means we are truly offering our clients a seamless experience with Metro Wavelengths, Wavelengths, Ethernet and Internet across our footprint, with good opportunity to scale. This is important as we continue to address growing demand from our existing served segments, and pick up business from new segments as well."

EUNetworks has 13 operational metropolitan networks across Europe, including Berlin, Hamburg, Amsterdam, The Hague, Paris, London and Dublin.
