Eir Business and Evros rebrand as Eir Evo and add 40 jobs

Managing director Martin Wells says workforce will expand following merger

Eir Evo, the new name for the merger of Eir Business and Evros Technology, is creating 40 additional jobs, it said on Wednesday as it announced its rebranding.

Eir Business acquired Irish IT services provider Evros in an €80 million deal agreed in January, and the merged entity currently employs more than 600 people.

The company, which is part of the Eir group, provides end-to-end telecommunications and IT services across the island of Ireland, including voice, cybersecurity, networking and cloud technology.

"With the unveiling of Eir Evo we are delighted to announce that we will be expanding our workforce, both in the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, " said Eir Evo managing director Martin Wells, who was previously managing director of Eir Business.

The 40 new positions will be in areas such as IT security, cloud services and software development, while further roles are expected to be added in the coming months.

‘Business as usual’

Eir Evo said as the companies continue to build their combined workforce, it would remain “business as usual” for customers of both Eir Business and Evros Technology.

In operation since 1990, when it was founded by Bob Murray, Evros Technology has offices in Dublin, Cork and Waterford, as well as Auckland in New Zealand, which it opened in late 2019. It had about 450 employees and contractors at the time of its acquisition by Eir Business.

“Irish businesses today need the power to evolve, to be more agile and flexible in how and where they do business. Eir Evo will drive technical freedom for our customers, not just by leveraging the latest technologies but through bespoke, intelligent implementation,” said Mr Wells.

Eir’s website is now directing business customers with 10 or more employees to the new Eir Evo.
