Can Thalmic’s Myo change wearable technology?

New band reads muscle signals to control movement on screen

Cost: $149 Is wearable technology getting a bit ahead of itself? Although we are used to fitness trackers and other health-focused devices, a new development could be the most exciting yet. The latest device about to hit the market is the Myo, an armband that could spell the end for the humble mouse, gamepad or even touch interface. Rather than reading your movements with a camera or accelerometer, the band measures electrical activity in your muscles to control everything from your computer to your phone. You can use it for gaming, controlling presentations or even controlling your very own drone, and all you have to do is pop on the armband. It’s scheduled to ship in September.
