Amazon aims to set TV world on Fire

New box will not only stream video but also play games

$99

Looking remarkably like Apple TV but going one step further is Amazon's Fire TV. The device, which is available currently in the US, not only gives you access to streaming media services such as Netflix, but it also plays games.

The black box is powered by a quad core processor and comes with 2GB of RAM built in, along with wifi and Ethernet. Not just for streaming video or music, it can play Android games, turning it into a multitasking media centre for your living room. It’s also compatible – naturally – with Amazon’s Prime Instant Video service. Voice search is integrated, which is a good move for users, if it works as it should. Fingers crossed for an Irish launch date soon.
