Irish company, Sigma Wireless Communications, has bought the marketing, distribution and services business of Motorola Northern Ireland for an undisclosed sum.

The move mirrors Sigma's purchase of Motorola's marketing and distribution business in the Republic in 1991. It will now take responsibility for Motorola's cellular, paging and two-way radio in Northern Ireland.

Sigma has worked in conjunction with Motorola Northern Ireland from its Bangor, Co Down, offices since 1996. Mr Tony Simpson, Sigma's business manager in Northern Ireland, said he was looking forward to continuing the business relationship.

He added this latest move would help Sigma establish itself as the largest supplier of quality wireless communication products in the North.
