The education levels of the Irish workforce are inadequate for future economic growth, according to a new report on lifelong learning.

"Actions for a Learning Society", a joint report by IBEC, the joint council of directors of the institutes of technology and the Conference of Heads of Irish Universities, urged the Government to adopt a radical strategy for adult learning. It described adult literacy as the biggest challenge and a barrier to industrial development policy.
