THE draft forestry development guidelines for planning authorities, if put into effect, could inhibit development and jeopardise the strategic plan for the industry, according to the Irish Forest Industry Chain (IFIC). The IFIC, which represents all sections of the industry, called for the formation of a forestry consultative forum to ensure the development guidelines reflect the views of a wide cross section of the forestry industry.
