RESEARCH by Andersen Consultants has shown that one in five adults are currently using a personal computer, while one in 20 people are using the Internet. Businesses are also increasingly making greater use of facilities such as electronic mail, although fewer than half of Irish firms communicate through this medium. Ms Vivienne Jupp, a partner at the consultancy, said the research also indicated that students continue to have very limited access to computers. It estimates that one in every 100 primary school pupils and only 3 per cent of secondary school students currently have access to computers.
