The Institution of Engineers of Ireland has appointed Mr Paddy Purcell, current group internal auditor with the ESB and a chartered engineer, as its new director general.

Mr Purcell is a member of the audit committee for the Department of Agriculture and Food and is a former member of the Science and Technology Board of the National Council for Education Awards. He has spent his career to date with the ESB and worked in strategic planning and personnel before becoming group internal auditor.
