Employment in the Shannon Free Zone has risen above 6,000 for the first time in the duty free area's 38-year history. Shannon industrial development manager, Mr Michael Leyden said that the agency's mid-year survey showed 6,153 people were employed in the 110 manufacturing and service companies in the zone. This was an increase of 200 since last December.
