A prospecting company has been granted a licence to search for diamonds in the Sperrin Mountains. Kenmare Resources has been given the go-ahead for exploratory work in the Omagh and Strabane areas of Co Tyrone. The firm, listed on the London and Dublin stock exchanges, has been involved in exploration for zinc-lead in Co Donegal, and is currently engaged in gold mining work in Mozambique.
