The Minister for Tourism, Sport and Recreation, Dr James McDaid leads a 23-strong Irish tourism delegation to Milan today for Italy's largest trade and consumer holiday fair. Ireland's stand, which is expected to attract 100,000 visitors over five days, is a joint Bord Failte/Northern Ireland Tourist Board promotion. Last year Ireland received 128,000 visitors from Italy, up more than 13 per cent on 1997.
