Iona Technologies, the middleware product manufacturer, has been named Irish Company of the Year for 1998 by Business and Finance magazine.

Iona, which is ISEQ and Nasdaq-quoted, received the award after being assessed for turnover, profitability, innovation, market positioning, potential and management ability.

Mr Don Godson, chief executive of CRH, was named Businessman of the Year.
