British firm 'misleading' Irish consumers
Online business directory whatswhat.ie has warned that a British firm is actively targeting small Irish businesses to try and sell them a service to improve their search results.
Barbara Gordon, managing director of whatswhat.ie said her firm had been “inundated with e-mails and calls from small Irish businesses who have paid this company over the odds to increase their websites visibility and ranking on Google”.
“Along with misleading consumers into thinking they are working on behalf of a Google division, we believe they are also claiming to be affiliated to whatswhat.ie”.
Microsoft revamps its search service
Microsoft is reported to be revamping its Live Search service which will be rebranded as Bing in the coming days.
Microsoft has been testing the search engine internally under the name Kumo and is hoping to make up lost ground against Google in the lucrative web search market.
