LEGAL proceedings brought against missing investment broker, Mr Tony Taylor, were adjourned to July 14th by the High Court yesterday so that the liquidator of the Taylor group of companies could consider his next move following receipt of an affidavit from Mr Taylor's wife.
Mr Patrick McSwiney, official liquidator to Taylor and Associated Finance Services Ltd (TAFS), claims that nearly £2 million of investors' funds are unaccounted for. Neither Mr Taylor nor his wife, directors of the insurance brokers' companies, have been seen since last August.
Mr McSwiney had told a previous court hearing that as a result of his investigations it had become clear some of the investments of 1,400 clients had been misappropriated.
He understood the Garda Fraud Squad was actively pursuing several complaints against Mr Taylor.
Yesterday, Mr John O'Donnell, counsel for the liquidator, told Mr Justice Shanley that his client had received an affidavit from Mrs Shirley Taylor and wished to consider the implications of various matters referred to in the affidavit.
Mr O'Donnell said lawyers for Mrs Taylor had no objection to an adjournment of the proceedings. Mr Justice Shanley adjourned the hearing to July 14th.
