OFF on a career change is Riada equity man Conall O Morain, who is leaving the broking company in the middle of next month to set up his own consultancy business. The former RTE business reporter has two media related projects in the pipeline - one a TV series which he says includes a book tie in.
O Morain is also planning to lecture at one of the business colleges and will have an involvement with some of the independent local radio stations. He also plans to get involved in some corporate PR work.
He says, however, that this involvement is not with the "Riverdance" consortium which won the national radio licence nor with Teilifis na Gaeilge. Gaeilgeoiri who tune in to Raidio na Gaeltachta will know of course that O Morain occasionally contributes to Raidio na Gaeltachta on stock market stories.
O Morain is the second director of Riada to leave just three years after the buyout of the stockbroking firm by ABNAMRO. Earlier this year, another director - equity dealer Pat Healy - left to become head of investment at the Guardian insurance group.
